![]() The alterations were made when Electronic Arts-who owned the System Shock franchise rights-signed on as publisher. Originally intended to be a standalone title, its story was changed during production into a sequel to the 1994 game System Shock. System Shock 2 is a 1999 action role-playing survival horror video game designed by Ken Levine and co-developed by Irrational Games and Looking Glass Studios. There currently aren’t any announced platforms or release dates, but I’m sure OtherSide will be talking more about the game soon.Action role-playing, first-person shooter, survival horror Apparently the teaser site that had “SYSTEM SHOCK 3” written in great big letters simply wasn’t blatant enough? She was announced on a new teaser page that was tweeted out alongside the official announcement that OtherSide is indeed making System Shock 3. However, what we do know is that SHODAN, the megalomaniacal rogue AI of the first two games, is back, and she sounds creepier than ever. That concern is even more valid when you remember that we don’t have any gameplay, screenshots, or even concept art available at the moment. While the studio is helmed by Tim Stellmach, who designed the first System Shock, a fairly new and unproven studio like OtherSide making the follow-up to one of the best-received games of all time gives people a pretty valid reason to be concerned. ![]() OtherSide’s entry is a brand new, bona fide sequel to the cult classics. It’s unrelated to the work going on at Night Dive Studios, who is currently working on a remake of the first game. Just in case you missed it, System Shock 3 was not-so-subtly hinted at being in development by OtherSide Entertainment last week.
